Battersea calls on JD Sports management to "come on be a good sport and SW11tch Back to Battersea"
Sharp eyed Battersea residents have been reporting the incorrect naming of the revamped JD Sports shop in Clapham Junction, Battersea.
The smart new branding is very appealing, but the sign on the outside wall of the store on St John's Road has been horrifying passers by, and ruined the revamp for passionate and proud Battersea folk by the completely incorrect name - see below:
Added to this, the JD Sports website has fallen, like so many others before them, into the Clapham-trap and got their geography completely up the spout - see below:
So, if you're looking for a JD Sports in London's Battersea across the entirety of SW11, there isn't one.
From the picture above one can see that JD Sports has a store in 'Clapham Junction, Clapham', SW11....aaarrrgh. A basic error I geography and a major example of dissing on Battersea. Their address should, of course, read Clapham Junction, Battersea.
However, it is highly probable and therefore suspected that JD Sports may have relied on Google Maps to locate their store - but that's another story that we will be sharing with Battersea lovers shortly.
JD has as its strap-line "JD, King of Trainers, The Best of the Best". Well, we in Battersea believe Battersea is the Best of the Best and that's why we call on JD to SW11tch as soon as possible so that shoppers can buy JD equipment confident that the company has shown respect and appreciation for Battersea and delight in being a part of its community.
The campaign team has written formally to JD Sports at their headquarters in Bury, Manchester to alert them to this issue and asking them to SW11tch and join the Battersea family.
